We could go on and on with the colourful
world of zinnias but there are so many more flowers for which Mother gave
to us and the world their vibratory message of giving that we must move
on. This then is the last article on zinnias.
I had mentioned briefly in a previous blog a time when I was traveling
through the desert areas of California and came upon a grouping of zinnias
in full bloom. They were growing in the sand, with no water in the area,
and I marveled that this flower so perfectly identified by Mother as
Endurance, also displayed on the physical plane its power to endure
drought and the poorest soil lacking in nutrients and not only surviving
but flowering in the blasting heat of the desert.
We close with a few more significances although I note here that when we
asked Mother for a title for the first major revision of flowers she had
named over many years she gave the title, "Flowers and Their Messages".
The two volume edition "The Spiritual Significance of Flowers" was a
labour of love by Lilou Burke and Bob Zwicker taking more than ten years
to complete. I had an inspiration which I shared with Lilou, to publish a
book by the (messages) significances Mother gave to the flowers since our
first book was done by botanical name. Lilou and Bob bore the heat of
Auroville, travelling to gardens throughout the township to photograph on
film the many colours of 'Endurance', as digital photography had yet to
emerge.
To complete our series on 'Endurance' here are a few more.

Supramentalised Endurance
Mother's comment: "With such an attitude difficulties
lose their power to harass you.”
This is a different species, Zinnia
angustifolia, the 'Narrow leaf' or more commonly known 'Mexican
zinnia', native to western Mexico.
The individual flowers are small
and grow inclusters making a lovely groundcover.
Mother's Comment: "Nothing is so
small as to be neglected; the same attention is given to all
circumstances.”
